I have been in the trade environment for nearly 30 years, being head hunted numerous times in London for building services maintenance contracts. I moved back to Yorkshire and went self employed.

Answers:

It would be ok for a time but the valve will become faulty with over use and start leaking around the "screwdriver" part.
Both will be the same to install, however if you get a slightly larger rad then the altered pipework will be less obvious being below the radiator opposed to outside the length of it.
It would need to be seen to understand the issue.
If it's fresh plaster then a mist coat is best, any cheap white paint mixed with water, we use approx 50/50 mix.
If you are tightening/loosening a fitting further along the pipework then without holding both fittings this may happen. if you are nor tightening/loosening anything the answer is no
