Carpet Fitting Measurements for Carpet Order

Would 7.2m x 4m be sufficient for the following measurements? The bedroom is shaped like this with a maximum 7.1m x 2.7m (1.5cm on each side is skirting board): 2.4m _________________ | | 2.305m | |__ | | | | 4.79m | | |__________________| 2.73m A built in closet with maximum dimensions: 2.4m x 0.9m A storage cupboard at: 2.11m x 1.36m Unfortunately I'm unable to upload the photo, but can I order 7.2m (allowing for 10cm leeway on all measurements) from a 4m roll if I have the carpet fitter cut the other pieces from the same length? From my calculations, the storage cupboard would fit in the space towards the top of the carpet supplied for the bedroom with a small gap and the closet would fit nicely down the bottom. Is the length/measurements something a carpet fitter would work with? or what measurements would you suggest to get the least amount of wastage given the carpet it £50 per sq m. Thank you!

Based on the measurements provided, it seems like 7.2m x 4m would be sufficient, especially with the allowances for leeway. A carpet fitter can work with those measurements and make adjustments for the closet and storage cupboard. To minimize wastage, you could discuss with the fitter to ensure the carpet is cut efficiently, perhaps by positioning the closet and storage cupboard strategically on the roll to minimize leftover material.

The best way is to have a professional fitter to measure the place and do a cutting plan to minimise the waste and assure the place will have a pile direction entry place

Yes unfortunately you would have to order a 4 metre width carpet . With the waste you could always use it on your stairs or have a nice runner made .

Based on the measurements provided and considering your plan to cut from a 7.2m x 4m roll, here's a breakdown:

Total Carpet Area Required:
Bedroom Main Area:
Maximum dimensions: 7.1m x 2.7m (allowing for skirting boards).
Area: 7.1m x 2.7m = 19.17 sq m.
Built-in Closet:
Dimensions: 2.4m x 0.9m.
Area: 2.4m x 0.9m = 2.16 sq m.
Storage Cupboard:
Dimensions: 2.11m x 1.36m.
Area: 2.11m x 1.36m = 2.87 sq m.
Total Area Required:
Bedroom + Closet + Cupboard = 19.17 + 2.16 + 2.87 = 24.20 sq m.
Carpet Roll Size:
Roll dimensions: 7.2m x 4m.
Area: 7.2m x 4m = 28.8 sq m.
Given that you have 28.8 sq m of carpet and need approximately 24.2 sq m, the roll should be sufficient.

Layout and Cutting:
You mentioned cutting pieces for different areas. A skilled carpet fitter can efficiently manage cutting and laying out the carpet to minimize wastage. For optimal results:
Confirm the layout with the fitter to ensure all pieces are cut efficiently.
Consider slight overages for adjustments and fitting around obstacles.
Allowances:
The 10cm leeway you mentioned is good practice for fitting adjustments. However, it's essential to factor in any additional areas or irregularities.
In conclusion, your 7.2m x 4m roll should be sufficient for your needs, given the measurements and allowance for leeway. Communicate clearly with your carpet fitter about your measurements and any specific layout preferences to ensure minimal wastage.
